The plexus brachialis is a network of sensory and motor nerve fibers extending from the spinal nerves and converging to form the nerves of the shoulder, arm and hand. Researchers at MedUni Vienna and Vienna General Hospital have developed a treatment algorithm or protocol to establish which patients with global injuries to the plexus brachialis will benefit from having their non-functioning hand replaced by a bionic prosthesis.
