A world first bi-pedal Avatar, named “Method-2,” is being tested at South Korean robotics company Hankook Mirae Technology. A human pilot sits inside the robot’s torso making limb movements that are mimicked by the Avatar. That is no small achievement–just one of the Avatar’s metal arms weighs 130 kilograms (286 pounds). More than twice the size of a tall man, the Avatar shakes the ground when it takes a step as it goes about completing tasks that would be extremely hazardous for humans. Hmm–did we just see this in a movie?
