Drugs bind to a specific protein molecule and change the protein’s 3D shape. Ideally, a drug will only bind to a specific protein or group of proteins that are involved in a disease, thus eliminating side effects. But proteins are tiny, even smaller than the shortest wavelength of visible light. Now researchers have created a new set of machine-learning algorithms that can generate 3D structures of complex nanoscale protein molecules.
