Security Innovation, a company based in Massachusetts, has attracted the unexpected attention of the National Security Agency. The attraction is due to the company’s unusual encryption technology called NTRU, which it acquired from four Brown University mathematicians. NTRU was invented as a solution to the powerful code-breaking power of computers that exploit quantum physics. NSA has warned that encryption protecting online transactions such as banking should be replaced with something quantum-computer-proof as soon as possible.
